OnePlus CEO Pete Lau confirmed that the company does not plan to launch its traditional T-series device in the second half of this year. With the T model, the company improves its current model by bringing different updates. Last year the big news was for the charging system that is faster. This was the first year that the company cancelled the launch of a 3T model since the OnePlus 3T, whose first launch took place in 2016.
Pete Lau, also announced that its flagship smartphone OnePlus released next year, will have a newly unified operating system, following the company's integration with BBK Electronics subsidiary Oppo .
OnePlus announced that it would unify the code bases of its Android-based OxygenOS operating system with Oppo's ColorOS in July. Even though this unification has occurred, One Plus' OxygenOS and Oppo's ColorOS operating systems will run on their respective smartphones.
This new unified and updated OS will have the "fast and smooth", "clean and light" elements of OnePlus' OxygenOS and "reliable" and "feature-rich" features of Oppo's ColorOS to create a unique experience for OnePlus phone users.
The company has already started combining the two, and the codebase integration is expected to be completed by June next year, OnePlus CEO Pete Lau announced in an interview that took place last week.
One Plus will feature Oppo's SuperVOOC fast charging system. For this project, the two telecom companies started to team up some last year when Lau took over product strategy for One Plus and Oppo, and this was one of the first steps. "I'm confident it will be an experience that will surprise and delight everyone," he said.
